ALFONSO FABRÉ DE BALANZÓ
“More than an artist, a transformer”
Alfonso’s works refer to the sea. They are a continuous memory of tides, brackish from different seas that he has crossed throughout his life as a sailor.
The sea, now, the Mediterranean, is present in his pieces, wood that the waves throw and that he, with the patience of a goldsmith, breathes new life into them. Fish, but also twisted roots, prickly pear shovels dried in the sun, fallen on the dry earth and which, without his intervention, would disappear.
And so, sea and land, essential Mediterranean, speak through pieces that contain an atavistic memory, that which sailed the seas like Ulysses and seek the shelter of a safe harbour.
